Wildlife Watching Excursions black grouse loch muick 4.2011 71

Safaris & Guided Walks

             via Land Rover Discovery

Explore Deeside from Upland Wlderness to Coastal Castles,

Wildlife watching with an expert

all by 4 X 4 or on foot

Golden Eagles reappear, Mum Dad and last years youngster!,

Black Cock renew their Lecking in preparation for next spring,

The Roe Deer prepare for their rutting season and the Red Deer fight on to outlast the winter!

Some of last years highlights included trips up to Troup Head where the Gannets amongst other seabirds Puffins Razorbills and Guilemots and Great Skua showed well,

and this Brown Hare was very confiding, alowing it to be digi-scoped after good views were had by all.

The nest box check revealed a few surprises, if you look closely you might just see the female Redstart sitting tight in one of the owl boxes. She managed to raise the three chicks successfully

A Female Pied Flycatcher has taken up residence in another box

laying 5 eggs, though there was no sign of a boyfriend,

The suspicion that the eggs were infertile, was born out as they didn't hatch

despite mums best efforts!!

Lets hope shes back this year and finds a partner.

Other news from DNA Towers last breeding season, the Greenfiches, Siskins and Robins fledged young which showied well around the garden, whilst the Blackbirds and Pigeons also raised young and the Swallows finally finished their nest and raised two broods just in time for migration. Not bad for a small garden!!

If you fancy experienceing some of these wildlife experiences give DNA a try........
